I believe great writing begins with great thinking. With over 10 years of private tutoring experience, I help students excel in English, Literature, General Paper and IB Language & Literature by teaching them how to think, not just what to write.

My lessons develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning and communication skills through a structured teaching approach, enabling students to confidently tackle unfamiliar questions without relying on memorised answers or rigid templates. This consistently improves their academic performance.

Students’ stories:
From AL7 to AL3 in Chinese

A Primary 3 student started with 38/100 (AL7) and avoided speaking Mandarin at home due to a lack of confidence. Through low-pressure conversational practice, visual memory aids, and gradual confidence-building, he became more comfortable with the language.

By the end of Primary 4, his score improved to 74/100 (AL3). More importantly, his attitude towards Chinese changed—he now reads Chinese storybooks independently, turning a subject he once feared into one he is willing to explore on his own.

 

From C6 to A2 in Secondary School

Another student struggled with the transition to Secondary 1 Express, initially scoring 52% (C6). Instead of relying on memorised model answers, he was taught how to systematically analyse complex texts, identify key information, and structure his responses effectively.

With a clearer approach and stronger foundation, he progressed to 63% (B4) in Secondary 1 and eventually achieved 70% (A2) in Secondary 2—showing steady, sustained improvement in both understanding and exam performance.

About Me
I started teaching because, having been a student myself, I understand the challenges students face in their studies. This allows me to relate to my students, provide practical advice and make lessons more engaging and enjoyable. I believe that when students understand what they are learning and enjoy the learning process, they become more motivated and are able to make meaningful improvements in their academic performance.

 

As a PSLE specialist, I focus on helping students strengthen their subject foundations while developing effective exam techniques and learning strategies. I am also experienced in teaching students with ADHD and Autism.
